Playlist feeds (MRSS)
Read a playlist as an MRSS feed
Every playlist, static or smart, can be read as an MRSS (Media RSS) feed, for example to syndicate your videos to a partner site or app. There are three feeds per playlist: standard MRSS, one for Roku and one for Yahoo. To create and manage the playlists themselves, see Playlists.
Feed URLs
https://player.target-video.com/services/mrss/playlist/PLAYER_ID/PLAYLIST_ID.xml
https://player.target-video.com/services/roku/playlist/PLAYER_ID/PLAYLIST_ID.xml
https://player.target-video.com/services/yahoo/playlist/PLAYER_ID/PLAYLIST_ID.xmlReplace PLAYLIST_ID with the playlist’s ID and PLAYER_ID with the ID of a player on the same website; the CMS shows these URLs with your default player. If your account uses its own player domain, the CMS shows the URLs on that domain.
Paging
A feed returns the first 20 videos of the playlist. To get more, add the page number and the number of videos per page (at most 100) before .xml:
https://player.target-video.com/services/mrss/playlist/PLAYER_ID/PLAYLIST_ID/2/50.xmlThis example returns videos 51 to 100.
What a feed contains
A feed lists only the playlist’s videos that are active, published (their publish date has passed), not expired and not DRM-protected. Each video is an item with:
title, description, pubDateandguid;media:contentfor each rendition (the MP4 renditions and, when available, the HLS stream), withurl, type, duration, width, heightandbitrate;media:thumbnail, the video’s snapshot;media:keywords, the video’s tags;media:subTitle, the video’s captions (WebVTT), when it has any.
Roku feeds are flat: one media:content per video, no HLS stream and no captions. Yahoo feeds add updated (when the video last changed) and category (the video’s IAB categories).
Before you import a feed
Signed media URLs. If your account uses secure (signed) video URLs, the media links in the feed expire after a while. Download or ingest the videos soon after you read the feed.
Geo-restricted videos are filtered by the country of the server that reads the feed, not by your viewers’ country.
Errors return HTTP 200. A missing playlist, for example, returns a feed with a single item whose title is the error message (“Playlist doesn’t exist.”). Check for that before you import.
